Shrewsbury Museum and Art Gallery visit

I had a lovely visit to Shrewsbury Museum and Art Gallery in January 2025, accompanied by my son Freddie (age 3 and 3/4). There weren't a great many baskets to find but we did find some and in unexpected places. Some of the historical scene paintings of Shrewsbury had some baskets in them...

There was a photo of a Victorian shop in Shrewsbury run by two brothers who also did taxidermy for Charles Darwin and his circle of acquaintances. The photo was really interesting as they sold coracles, fish traps and bait baskets - the latter two looked to be woven in willow.

The Roman gallery we nearly didn't go to but actually had the most! The real baskets were reproductions for the Romano-British way of life area and then there were modern interpretation paintings showing life in Roman Wroxeter that had some baskets in them.
